Introduce your self to the world?
I am just a girl who’s been in love with style, fashion, and seeing the world through my own eyes. I love going to foreign places and gaining new perspectives and appreciations for different cultures. I also happen to love giving back to my community. I really value what volunteering and education have done for me. As of recently my love for style has evolved into me creating my own blog. Follow my journeys on avirgorising.com
How did you get into what you are doing?
a. I actually always wanted to model ever since I was really young. The idea of being able to depict a certain type of emotion or feeling through an image has always fascinated me. I didn’t start seriously modeling until a local designer scouted me at a Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles. From there, I made a lot of contacts and eventually moved to Tokyo to fully delve into the modeling world.
If you had a chance to have dinner with anybody in the world, who would that be and what would you ask them?
a. Such a tough question… One that comes to mind immediately is Kate Moss. Her and I are exactly the same height, so she’s a major inspiration. Not only is she a badass bitch, but also, she became astoundingly successful and she was really the first supermodel to not be sample size in terms of height. I would love to pick her brain on how she came to be and how she compensated for her shortcomings (height). She is also still successfully modeling and that’s not something that normally happens. So I would love to divulge into how that happened and what she did to make that happen.
What music are you into and what have you been listening to today?
a. I’m into all sorts of music. The past year I’ve been super obsessed with The XX, Disclosure, Lorde, and A$AP Rocky. But honestly, I love almost everything. A little Wu-Tang, and Notorious BIG is always a classic. I love Kings of Leon and Bon Iver as well. Also, I love country music… Florida Georgia Line, David Nail, Tim McGraw, and Lady Antebellum are probably some of my favorites.
Whats your take on mobile technology? Do you have a smart phone and what apps are you using the most? Whats a great app recommendation you can give?
a. I don’t really have a take on it… I have an iPhone and probably use Instagram and Pinyata the most. I really don’t like Facebook and was finding it more of a nuisance if anything to use it, so I got rid of it a little while ago. However, Pinyata is this cool new app that my friends have launched and is currently going through Beta testing. I think once it’s fully launched, Pinyata will for sure be replacing Facebook, or highly competing with it. I’m lucky enough to be highly involved with it, and I definitely use it on a daily basis and it’s really great. It’s almost like a hybrid of Instagram and Facebook. It’s really difficult to explain, but I think that’s because there is nothing else like it out there. You guys will just have to wait and see, but I promise the wait will be well worth it.
Whats your idea of an ideal night/date?
a. I love having an intimate dinner and watching movies with someone. Whether that’s making it together while goofing off, or physically going somewhere. I like the idea of being able to be comfortable and candid with your partner. Yes, you can do that when you still go out but I think it’s a little more personal when you spend that quality time in sometimes. I’ve always been a private person, so I’ve always considerably enjoyed spending one on one time with someone versus being somewhere where you have to shout in order to hear what they’re saying. Actually, I just went on an incredible date. It was filled with laughter, endless conversations about everything and anything, incredible food, and a really intimate beach night-walk. It’s things like that, which I adore and appreciate so much more than going out to some club.
Have you ever been recognized when walking around for anything you have done?
a. No, not really. I spent a lot of time in Tokyo modeling and I was fortunate enough to have booked 3 magazine covers there, so that was probably the only thing that people semi recognized.
Whats is the most dangerous/most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Probably perusing modeling. It’s hard because fashion is such a fickle industry and you’d be foolish to think that it’s a career that you can fall back on. I had an incredible opportunity to go to Tokyo to model and it was insane. Having 3 weeks to sell my car, give up my apartment, and box all of my belongings up and put them in storage was definitely terrifying, but really gratifying at the same time. Being in a completely foreign country and being immediately thrown into the ringer was the most exhilarating yet scariest thing I’ve probably done to date, but well worth it. Going through that transitional time has definitely given me a thick skin and can endure a lot more, more so if I hadn’t of gone and spent that time abroad.
Whats does the word “Sexy” mean to you?
Being absolutely comfortable and confident in your own skin. I’m drawn to people with depth. I like people with emotion. I like people with a resilient mind, an interesting mind, and a perverse mind. I think that type of intelligence and uniqueness is really intriguing. Being sexy is something that stems from self-confidence and attitude. It should have nothing to do with appearances at all, because honestly, it’s a feeling, and that is something nobody should ever be able to take away from you.
Tell us one thing about yourself that you have never told anybody. You have an open forum to come clean…..
Oooh… This one I’m not too sure about. Most people don’t know this, but when I was about 8 I ended up getting 7 stitches in my lower lip because I fell off my Razor Scooter staring at my neighborhood crush.
